What is an Enduro?
Enduros are Mountain Bike races, consisting of several timed downhill segments (or Stages), separated by untimed uphill sections. The total time for an athlete is calculated by adding the sum of the downhill segments. Whoever has the shortest time is the winner.
Because they are a selection of timed and untimed segments, there is usually a more relaxed atmosphere around these races. Because the start and end of the various segments are usually not concentrated at the same place and racers can take as much time as they want between the segments (as long as they finish everything by the event end time), there can be a lot more waiting around than at a typical race event.
Enduros can be fun, intense and challenging and are very popular. They can be a bit of work to set up though.
