In sprint heats, the lucky losers are the fastest racers who didn’t qualify by place in their heat. Broadcast shows who holds those spots right now, so viewers can follow the race for them between heats.

Available in: Lite · Standard · Premium (Live Splits needs Standard or Premium)

How they are picked

  • Broadcast follows the race’s own heat format: how many lucky losers each round sends on, and from which places. FIS formats take the 2 fastest from 3rd and 4th place.
  • The fastest heat times across all the heats of the round win.
  • They are the current lucky losers: a faster time in a later heat of the round takes their spot.
  • Racers marked DNS, DNF or DSQ are never lucky losers.
  • Nothing shows for the final, or for formats that pick lucky losers by qualifier time (untimed formats). See Sprint heat formats.

Set it up

  1. Time the race with a timed heat format, as in Timing sprint heats.
  2. Lucky losers show in all three views on their own.
  3. To hide them everywhere, turn off Show Lucky Losers in Settings. The setting only appears for heat races.

Lucky-loser rows use the same racer fields, flags and bibs as the rows above them, with their heat in the first column and their heat time.

Live Splits

  • Racers of the shown heat who are currently lucky losers have an amber row.
  • A Lucky losers card under the results lists the round’s current lucky losers. It shows as soon as the heat is on screen, before any times.

Troubleshooting

You see Check
No lucky losers Show Lucky Losers is on in Settings, the race uses heats with a timed format, the round isn’t the final, and a heat of the round has results.
A lucky loser disappears Normal: a faster time in a later heat of the round took the spot.
No Start List rows The heat is the first of its round, so no one has a time yet.
