title: "How do I add a waiver to my registration form?"

summary: Use your sport's preset waiver if there is one; otherwise add the waiver text followed by a mandatory checkbox.
---
## Check for a preset waiver first

Some sports have a preset waiver field containing the governing body's official waiver text, and Nordiq Canada membership forms include theirs. On the **Edit Form** page, click **Add a Form Element** and look under the preset fields. If your sport's waiver is listed, use it. See [Preset Fields](/kb/preset-fields/).

## Add your own waiver

1. On the **Edit Form** page, open the **Individual Elements** tab.
2. Click **Add a Form Element**, then **Create a Custom Element**, and add a text display element. Paste in your waiver text.
3. Directly below it, add a **Checkbox** field labelled something like "I have read and agree to the waiver above", and make it mandatory.
4. If you also want a typed signature, add a text field such as "Type your full name".

Put the waiver in **Individual Elements** so that every person in a cart accepts it, not only the person paying. Each registrant's acceptance is saved with their registration and shows up in your reports.

For more about text and display elements, see [Display Elements](/kb/display-elements/).

## If your waiver is a PDF

Registration forms can hold images, but not PDF files. Put the PDF on your website or another file host, then link to it from a text element above your checkbox. See [How do I link to a website from my Registration Form?](/kb/how-to-i-insert-a-link-into-a-registration/)

A third-party online waiver works the same way. Link to it, or show a QR code image, and ask registrants to complete it.

## Walk-up and day-of registrations

For people registering on site, use kiosk mode on a laptop or tablet so they go through the same form and accept the same waiver. See [Kiosk Mode](/kb/kiosk-mode/).
